HS terrace doors — huge glazing, effortless slide

HS terrace doors (tilt-and-slide, lift-and-slide) are the most comfortable way out to a terrace or garden you can build from PVC. The huge leaf with its large pane of glass lets a great deal of light into the living room, and thanks to the HS-Portal hardware it slides easily, without forcing — even with a heavy, glazed leaf. Once lifted, the leaf rises above the threshold and runs on aluminium tracks, so it stays smooth to operate for years.

We base the construction on a Salamander profile with HS-Portal hardware. It is a solution for genuinely large openings: up to 2.5 m high and 5 m wide, with a leaf weighing up to 400 kg. Security and a tight seal are held by 4 locking points as standard.

Low threshold — convenience and step-free access

A low, energy-efficient threshold is one of the biggest advantages of HS terrace doors. There is nothing to catch your foot on, it is easy to roll a pushchair, a child's bike or garden furniture across, and the line between living room and terrace almost disappears. The threshold is suitable for people with disabilities and for older people — real accessibility, not a brochure slogan.

A low threshold in an external door has to be both tight and warm, so there is no draught along the floor in winter. That is why we settle how the threshold is seated and how its junction with the floor is finished during the measurement — in a home near Białystok, where winter lasts for months, this detail decides the comfort.

Side-hung and tilt-and-turn balcony doors

Not every way out needs to be a large sliding glazing. For a flat balcony or a smaller terrace, classic side-hung balcony doors or tilt-and-turn doors are often a better fit — opened inwards like a window leaf, with the option of tilting for ventilation.

• Side-hung — the leaf opens fully, simple to operate, ideal where there is room to open inwards.
• Tilt-and-turn — one leaf, two modes: a full opening and a micro-tilt for airing without chilling the room.

Colours, finish and upkeep

PVC terrace doors do not have to be white. We finish the leaf and frame with decorative films or lacquer — from white, through anthracite, to warm wood-effect foils. We match the colour so the terrace doors tie in with the windows and the façade.
